England, under coach Thomas Tuchel started their World Cup qualification campaign with a convincing 2-0 win against Albania. Now in the second match in Group K England faces Latvia. Both teams will face for the first time in their history. The rankings and the statistics clearly speaks in faclvour of the hosts. They haven't lost a home World Cup qualifying match since year 2000. Remarkably, the Three Lions have kept a clean sheet in 12 of their last 15 victories. Interestingly, two of the last three English managers to have taken charge of at least five matches won their first two games without conceding a goal. Latvia, on the other hand began their qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win over Andorra. However, they are aware that their task against England will be much more difficult. In their history, they have never won against a team from the top ten of the FIFA world rankings. Still, they could make history with an upset and come closer to their dream of participating in their first World Cup but this will be really difficult. The fans of the Three Lions were not particularly impressed by their performance against the Albanians and now Tuchel’s eleven will try to be more focused on the field. |
